Music Friendly News & Events

At a Courthouse gazebo jam session in May, Visit Bastrop crossed paths with an interesting backpack-clad character named Jordan Hanssen. He said he was traveling through to Austin and was pulled in by the sound of music. Jordan is a writer and a waterman, having rowed across the ocean more than once, he & his boatmates earned a Guinness World Record for rowing from New York to England. He is also the author of "Rowing Into the Son: Four Young Men Crossing the North Atlantic."

Jordan is the creator of an online music series called Tiny Boat Sessions and currently spends much of his time on tiny boats, jamming with local musicians as he travels across the United States. Jordan was inspired to create Tiny Boat Sessions when he discovered a man playing the sax in a tiny boat in Seattle during the pandemic. After hearing Jordan’s story, we knew we had to link him up with local Bastrop musicians, Hailey Tuck and Colin Guerra. The rest is history. We hope you enjoy these Tiny Boat Sessions.
